Behold the 25 meter tall Byakue (White Robed) Kannon statue in its greatness. The Kannon is hollow inside, in which there are miniature buddhas enshrined.

It is one of the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, a series of landscape paintings in which Hokusai depicts the different views of Mt.Fuji from different locations. The location of this piece is Enoshima. A Ukiyoe is a painting genre unique to Japan, and it depicts the landscape of Japan as well as the leisure activities of ordinary people.

Railroad Crossing (The Japanese comic "SLAM DANK")

This is a place where the railroad crossing, used as a location in the popular Japanese comic called "SLAM DANK", is located. It is located right in front of the Enoshima Dentetsu "Kamakura Koko Mae" station and just a 20-minute walk from Minami-Enoshima station.

There is an old legend in the Enoshima area called "Enoshima Engi" The legend concerns a romance between a five headed dragon and an angelic maiden.
The angelic maiden is enshrined in the Enoshima Shrine, and the dragon, in the Ryukomyo Shrine (Dragon Mouth Shrine), which faces Enoshima.
There is a bell in Enoshima Shrine called Ryuren no Kane (the Bell of the Dragon's Love).
It is said that a couple can gaurantee their eternal bond by ringing the bell together, and putting a lock with their names on a fence nearby.
Visit the two shrines, which are bonded together eternally, and feel their power.

Ryukou Myou Jinja : 7 min. walk from Nishi-Kamakura Station
